It just forces buses onto Lode Lane and they lose their priority - and they should have priority over other vehicles

I think it will be safer for cyclists in the long term. But the way you've out the cones out means the whole lane can't be used by cyclists, so it's pushed me into the main carriageway which feels less safe. And it slows cars down.

As a daily driver into Solihull town centre for work, I've noticed that this measure causes congestion at the island junction of Warwick Road and Lode Lane where traffic backs up from the Poplar Road junction. The backing up of cars is dangerous. The bus lane was meant to reduce congestion by taking buses on an alternative route. The amount of pedestrians who use the bus lane is minimal and there is plenty of space to walk apart from others.
